Chestnut Hill Academy Reviews

Chestnut Hill Academy was a great school for me as a minority. It prepared me for college and I am very grateful for that.

CHA is the very best gift we could give to our son. It is a wonderful school for boys. If your son loves sports or music or art or robotics or nature...CHA is the #1.

Academically, CHA is a very fine school. For its size, it provides a generous selection within the traditional Math/English/Science/History/Language subjects, offering a LARGE variety of challenging AP/Honors courses. Compared to other small schools, CHA also boasts stellar sports teams, especially the baseball program, which in the last decade has produced 2 major leaguers (Mike Koplove still plays for Arizona), and 2 other players earning prestigious Division-I scholarships (both are expected to make professional teams as well). My only gripes: Firstly, despite a large art department and large performance music department, there are few music classes that non-instrument-players may take. Lastly, the athletic department has participation requirements that all incoming students should plan ahead on. Also, this isn't a complaint, but be aware CHA had a rulebreaking problem recently, and a crackdown on troublemakers came into effect this fall. Overall, a 'B+/A-' school!

Excellent academically with outstanding art program. Excellent sports as well. Culturally diverse in lower school but less in upper school. Great parent involvement. Great access for parents to administration and faculty. College preparatory school for boys and then co-ed classes in upper school with Springside School across the road. Middle school strict and sometimes not creative.
