“I wish I could say that we are happy with MDG but every week we discover more that we do not like. I would not recommend this school to anyone whose child is above average in intelligence. MDG has nothing to offer that child. The reading program is not good. Not enough variation in academics or extra curricular. The staff is not the best of the best and the principal is average.”

“There are many things that I love about MDG. MDG has great teachers and staff that show enormous effort and care in these students education. I am disappointed in the fact that while along with the community of this school have gone through many fundraisers and benefits to acquire computers, my child has yet to use them. It is the end of May and the school year is just about over. I am also disappointed in the fact that my child has only had a gym teacher for half of the school year so therefore went without gym class for the other half. I would like to continue my child s education at MDG because I believe in the teachers abilities, but these issues would have to be improved upon.”

“As parents we are the primary teachers of our kids and have assumed an important vocation to raise them in the practice of the Catholic faith. Our children will follow our example in coming to know Jesus, encounter Him in the Sacraments, and participate in the life of the Church. MDG is supportive of this role as my child s teacher in the ways of the faith by daily prayer, religious instruction, Mass and seasonal devotions. MDG aims to provide a diversified and strong academic program that goes beyond 'test scores' to develop a student s full potential. MDG offers a safe learning environment; many extra curricular activities for the children and families; and an open, respectful communication setting with the principal and her staff. This is our third year and so far, so good.”

“My child went to this school for several years. She did well. The last few years the school went down hill. The teachers and principal don't seem to see eye to eye. Bullying and clicks is a big issue in this school.”

“I have to agree with other parents on the principle. She is on a power trip and spends most of her time blaming the parenting yet never notifying the parents of the issue. I find this to be disturbing that a women who has no children and no experience on running a household can so quickly downgrade the parents of her students. This school is very clicky and unfortunatly for your child you need to hope you are part of that click or your child will be singled out.”

“MDG is a great school! Learning is fun at MDG. The teachers and staff make the child interested in what they are learning. My daughter started playing chess in second grade and now is teaching her grandfather how to play. The teachers not only teach their students, they care about them. The Principal goes above and beyond her call of duty and gives each child the attention and love they deserve. I think sometimes the school gets a bad rap and it isn't fair. If each parent did their part, I think things would be a little easier for everyone.”

“My child was a student at MDG for quite a few years until this year and I must admit, our experience was not all pleasant overall. The principal is strict but I disagree that she rules with an iron fist. She does however takes the side of those irresponsible and seriously underqualified teachers that work there rather than seriously looking into situations, more than one childs complaint over the same teacher is not the students but rather the teacher. By doing so she undermines the few caring and talented teachers in her staff. In terms of academics it's what one would expect from a catholic grade school, just ok but better than public schools. Parental involvent is key to your child's success there, teachers are less likely to maybe even pick on your child if your presence and caring is known,not to mention your child will feel more confident.”

“MDG has implemented an unrealistic discipline policy where children are rated each day either receiveing a sticker or a number. It seems that numbers are given out for just about anything and everthing such as not underlining your name in a homework assignment. When 4 numbers are received, it's detention & eventually suspension or expulsion. I do not feel that the focus is on learning and children are not tested for learning disabilities which may explain many behavioral or academic problems. Instead the school focuses on punishing & degrading, which after a few years can leave a child feeling worthless. The current principle is on a power trip - and rules the school with an iron fist rather than a compassionate heart that you would expect from a Catholic school. The academics are shaky & it is difficlut to get tutoring. Too much stress, aggravation & $$$ for a poor education.”

“M,D,G is a great small school with smaller classes and to me it was like a private school, because of this. My daughters both graduated with honors and went on to Nazareth Academy. They loved the school and the teachers were great also.”
