It provides a balance of academics and enough time for children to socialize during the hour lunch/recess, and AM/PM recesses This is a French public school, with the same French curriculum as in France, with the addition of three periods of English, where American history topics are discussed/ read. Geography and history are each taught once a week-this provides more background information about the world than sporadic projects in social studies in the neighboring public school did. The teachers are allowed to teach more than in the local schools, and rely less on small groups of children doing projects. They also aren't distracted by assessment and testing. The teachers seem to have the freedom to explore what they like to do with the children- one year origami, the next year making use of good weather to cross to the park.The structured classes helped my child orgaize.
