“My daughter attended Maya Angelou Public Charter School and it was a dream come true for her and me. My daughter played several sports she was on the Basketball team, and Cross Country Track and regular track team. She was Vice President of the School. One thing that surprise me the most about the school is the dedication of the teachers to the students their have a internet site that the children has access to even at home of the all the staff members. when my daughter signs she can see whos on line and every question or concern she had their always answer in a timely manner, even the principal.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I am a Reading Specialist who tutors a student that attends Maya Angelou Public Charter School. The teachers and administrators are not only very professional, they also truly care about developing student skills. Schoolwork is re-assigned until the student achieves an A or B on the assignment. This method of allowing students to keep working on something (like an essay) is a great to improve writing and comprehension. I'm impressed!” This review was posted by a other.

“My daughter has been going to Maya Angelou Public Charter School for about a year and a half now and this school is one of the best things that has happeded to her. This is a school for kids that typically don't do well at traditional High Schools... like my daughter, some of the students just have other barriers to succeeding but this school recognizes that and helps the situation. My daughter doesn't fight going to school anymore and she was talking about College the other day.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I am a parent who had a child enrolled in the MAPCS. When I did research on the school it sounded like a dream come true. I will admit, my son had issues that I clearly shared with them up front so that there would be no surprises. I am not going to say that MAPCS is not a good school, but it does need a lot of reevaluation of it's academic criteria as well as student/counselor ratio. I dont think that the faculty is prepared or even capable of helping the children the way that they perceive in the initial orientation. I was not aware that majority of the students had serious issues including mine that could not be met. Although, homework was done at school, my son neve brought a book home once. The school offers no atheletic activities. The school needs to be expanded.” This review was posted by a parent.
