Sure, it's called Chicken Out, but there's no reason to do actually “chicken out” when ordering at this popular rotisserie chain of the Washington suburbs. With a focus on healthy, natural ingredients without chemicals, the restaurant allows customers to freely put together a family meal quickly without the greasy guilt associated with quick-chicken.
Choose from three varieties of chicken: original, BBQ and cabos style, light or dark, half or whole, and a large selection of sides. There are hot and cold sides, ranging from baked potato wedges, stuffing, edamame, brown rice and beans, applesauce, whole wheat pasta and mashed sweet potatoes. Alternatively, you can also option for pulled chicken, turkey meatloaf, and turkey breast with the same sides. The menu indicates which items are “warm, rich and hearty comfort foods” as well as those that are “heart healthy items” with less than 4.5 grams of saturated fat.
Perhaps instead you'd prefer to order a wrap or a salad. Salads include milan chicken cutlet; chicken cobb, asian chicken, and roasted turkey breast, among others. There are also turkey burgers, sandwiches, soup, and paninis.
Chicken Out brags about its healthy emphasis: no microwaves or fryers, homemade soups and sides, recipes made from scratch and in the kitchens, and happy chickens raised on all-natural vegetable diets. There's also catering menus and party platters. Families love the call-ahead option – dial from the car and then pick up upon arrival.
Chicken Out in Bethesda is a large dine-in restaurant popular with the Bethesda work crowd and the families coming from soccer practice. There are nine locations in Maryland, five in Virginia, and one in Washington near the Maryland border.
