If there's to be a restaurant named America, featuring all the American favorites in one single restaurant, you'd be sure it would have some tourist appeal and in a location serving many tourists. America is located in Union Station, with partial views of Capitol Hill, and a menu that may satiate the appetites of Americans though scornfully by those from other parts of the world. In any case, it's the experience of dining in a themed restaurant that serves mac & cheese among decorations of dairy farms and astronauts in the same space.
America is a fairly large restaurant with multiple rooms and a wine section, and is a hit for private events hosting out of towners. Its fun, playful atmosphere pays tribute to our purple mountains majesty across to the Statue of Liberty and to the Golden Gate Bridge. The restaurant claims to be “the only restaurant with 50 stars!” It has views of Union Station below, or out the window to the statue of Christopher Columbus and Capitol Hill. There's also “outdoor” seating in the train station itself where you can enjoy a drink and appetizer while watching commuters and travelers run through. The restaurant's main customers will be slightly clueless tourists from other countries, and the occasional American tourist who doesn't know where else to eat.
The food is prepared with elegance and nice presentation, though as Americans you may have your own soft spot to Grandma's version of a dish to the restaurant's version (and some have said that dining elsewhere is a better idea).
The menu does an excellent job of covering specialties from every corner of the country Some popular items include Boston clam “Chowda” with “oystah crackahs”, “N'awlins cued” wild gulf shrimp, San Diego fried fish tacos, Mississippi catfish, “America's backyard burger”, Windy City Vienna beef hot dogs, and New York's “Dirty Water” hot dogs. Don't forget grilled cheese, fries (not French ones) and tater tots – all American staples.
